Traditionally dumplings are made in a Dutch pot. In this recipe I change up things a little. I want a crispy outside with a bread like interior. This is a side that goes with any and everything.
Ingredients
2 cups flour
1 cup water
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 tablespoon white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
3-4 cups of vegetable oil
6" diameter saucepan
Instructions
Mix
Combine all dry ingredients and knead dough by adding in water slowly
Keep dough soft. Devide dough into peices.
Spread some flour on a plate or cutting board and roll the peices of dough in it to give it a light coating.
Cook
Over medium-heat, and bring the oil to about 325F but not too hot
Test one dumpling and if it's browning too quickly the oil is too hot.
When the oil is to temp. Add in and fry for about 6-9 minutes or when slightly brown and crispy
Remove cooked peices and set on paper towels to absorb excess oil
Enjoy!
